Name: Caspian Lisander Caiyd Age: 19 Social Class: noble Birthday: April 14 Blood Type: A- Family: Xanther, Caspian's father, was a well-meaning man, but distant. He died when Caspian was ten. His wife, Verita, is distant as well, and spends little time with her children. Caspian's only sibling is Kiernan, who, at 22, is a famous tennis player and a generous, happy man. Preferred Element: Wind The youngest son of Caiyd, Caspian grew up wanting for little. His parents were kind, if detached: he and his elder brother's upbringing was left mainly up to the nannies, governesses, and various household staff Caiyd employed. Kiernan, his elder by three years, had a sort of infectious joy towards life, and though Caspian was quieter, one was never seen without the other. A few months after Caspian's tenth birthday, however, a wasting sickness struck Caiyd and its lands. Kiernan and their mother were left untouched, but both Caspian and Xanther caught it, and caught it badly. Caspian was confined to his bed for two months, and his father the same, while various healers, physicians, and even village midwives tended to them. Weeks after the rest of those who caught the disease healed or died, they continued to suffer. In the end, though, Caspian survived. His father did not. Though Caspian survived, his immune system was severely compromised. He was, and continues to be, often ill; while he was never as strong as Kiernan, one could now almost call him frail. He is forbidden from activities that require exertion: no riding, no tennis, no cold air at night. With little in the way of entertainment, he spends his days in Caiyd's library. When the testers came, he expected little. There were mages in their history, true - their recent history, even, on his mother's side -, but Kiernan wasn't, and if strong, whole Kiernan wasn't a mage... well, he had no illusions on his own luck. Caspian was surprised to find he was wrong, and that he did have the potential. Kiernan was less so, and overjoyed for his brother: he insisted he had always known the younger boy was special, and this just proved it. After a loud farewell party, one thrown hastily together by Kiernan and avoided by Caspian, he left for Everthorne. Sarcastic to a fault, Caspian always has a witty quip or a scathing observation towards those around him. While rarely spiteful, per say, he is quick to take offense. He is very much one who believes to attack before being attacked, even if said attack is far in the future -- the best defense is a good offense, after all, and the sooner, the better. Often described as 'eccentric,' Caspian has his own certain quirks depending on the situation. He might interrupt a conversation to straighten a picture, or to comment on an earlier event, or even to walk away; he may be multitasking beautifully at one moment, and, at the next, have lost all ability to concentrate. Dysis's servants have learned to accomodate his strange requests: hot honey at midnight, or to draw the curtains and block the light at noon. Caspian is deeply resentful of his elder brother -- Kiernan, the famous; Kiernan, the popular; Kiernan, the prodigy. Conversely, though, Kiernan is his closest friend, the only person he feels truly comfortable around, enough so he forgets just why he dislikes him so much when they are together. Underneath the bastardry, Caspian is honestly uncomfortable dealing with people, and (though he would be loathe to label it as such) feels a strange sort of vulnerability around them. He mistrusts strangers, and, suspecting the worst of their motives and intentions, pushes people away, both consciously and unconsciously. Outside of his older brother, he has no close friends and is often lonely. He has his own sort of kindness, though he very rarely shows it to anyone other than Kiernan. Caspian is past 'slender' and well into 'skinny,' and, while certainly attractive, always looks vaguely ill. He is a bit shorter than average - 5'6" or so - and dark-haired, and tends to dress simply, but with class.
